In 2015, Larry Buchanan, Graphics editor at The New York Times, filed a Freedom of Information Law Request to New York State to receive all the cease and desist letters sent by CMG Worldwide in 2014 on behalf of The New York State Department of Economic Development -- which owns the I♥NY trademark -- to stop the use of similar graphic approaches.
