well only one of our designers has been using quark for that long, but this week we've entered into a custom training on InDesign since we'll be *finally* moving to it when we get our new machines in the next few weeks.

i'm really digging indesign. when i played around in it on my own before i didn't like it - mainly because i didn't know where any frakking thing was, but with our tour guide in place, it's been really awesome.

here's my only gripe: in paragraph or character styles - you can only set a shortcut by using cmd, shift or option in correlation with a number on the number pad - this is no shortcut, the whole point of a shortcut is so that i can hit one key or a combo of keys with my left hand while my right hand uses my mouse to navigate through the different paragraphs. so i'm hoping they change this in the next version so that i can assign like F4 and what not to it.

    otherwise, it rocks.

    that is all.

    Welcome to the fold.

I think the reason you cannot use function keys etc for shortcuts is they are already in use by the system. Makes sense I guess.

I once worked with a designer who thought using just the number keypad for shortcuts was a good idea. We were working on the financial pages of an annual report at the time. :awkward:

does either quark or indesign allow a design team to set team/project/officewide settings for shortcuts? or is it all on the individual seat?
