What exactly means Mix CD --- just choosing tracks to put on a CD or actual self-produced mixes and mashups and stuff?

... this sounds interesting yet I have only passive music skills (read I listen to music but didn't go further than a little recorder in elementary school)

either! but i'll be merely choosing tracks :D

packaging exercise, more than anything, right? with a bonus of some musak and/or any other digital goodies, what what.

  1.
I guess the pairing should ideally be between two fazy luckers with similar music taste. Maybe if using Last.fm profiles we could compare?

i'm in for the project. :)

it seems to me that when we get our victim, we'll either make them something we think they'll like, or we'll make them something we think they need to hear.

    :D

    i'm personally leaning towards klezmer.
  2.
so one mixes and the other does the cover art or is it a mix between both and also the cover?

I'm in regardless, if anybody wants to play :)

No, you do the mix and the packaging then you send it to the user you're paired with

    :)

i think we ought to be recruiting. the "packaging" part could be as simple as an apt photograph (folded or for a jewel box) and a typed list of the tune titles.

then...? make a list of participants, randomize the list, and match them up first-last, second-second to last, third-third to last, etc.

    List Randomizer.

as for recruiting, what would you suggest? a thread in creations where people can sign up and add their name to the participants list?

i bet your packaging will be wonderful.

the sharing is the main part for me (that and the fun of doing it). :)

added.... how about you lean on all the lazys in chat and make them participate? i bet they've all got tunes to share.

flak, there's all levels of skill here in regards to "packaging". i'm sure you can come up with something perfectly adequate and some lucky person will be the richer for your participation.

oh, another important part of this should be that some good photographs should be taken of the packaging, then posted, along with a playlist, once received by the recipient. now, i know that some may struggle as they don't have a camera (zomg whut?!), so i think it would be good to take photos of the thing before sending it, too. just in case, innit!

Nicko said 'send', so my first thought was over the internets. Mail's good, too! Though, it would be nice to get someone local (continental US would be fine), so shipping isn't a hassle.

^ I don't mind for my part, but be prepared I'll choose the cheapest shipping method (so no overnight 24h express UPS but rather up to two week delivery, regular surface mail service  ) ... or maybe if the CD with packaging ends up being small enough and light I may actually consider priority delivery :happy:
