    this server has been a bit shit recently, someone's site got dugg, and sql access suffered (us) considerably. maybe i can get a free month out of him...

    it's slow, yes. right now. but it's intermittent. just now, this thread loaded fast enough (ish).

    a minute ago, another short thread took about 30 seconds.

    whoever JJ is, he must be throttling everyone, just to spread the load.

    He said he wasn't sure what was wrong and that he'd look into it, which meant he'd do nothing once I press command Q on adium to me.

    Weird thing was that I could access the space via ftp

    would you rather i'd not mentioned it, chris? it seems so intermittent, that i thought it might be of some use to have a timestamp on a slowdown. :) i'd no idea you were around for that particular instance of slomo fun.

    it seems to happen between 5 and 9pm (gmt). server load was apparently quite high, due to another site on the server. (nicko had previously linked it up here, in the ffffound thread - it was ddddownload.com, the application to download all your bookmarked images). now, apparently, that site has had some improvements made to the way the script loads... we'll see.

    server move (across the datacentre), into a new rack with a new server and firewall. estimated downtime was 1 hour, ended up being more like 4, eh.

    :) sounds like my ISP/Telco

    we had a total outage the other day. no landline anything for pretty much the whole day.

    kicker is... they won't offer any compensation, because they don't do that for outages less than 12 hours. there was the outage that lasted 11 hours and 43 minutes, then 19 minutes of uptime, so the clock got reset for the next outage of 3+ hours.

    heh ...i have plans for a Telus voodoo doll.
