Just noticed today while cleaning up my itunes, the funny thing is I have 2 EC sets
Elvis Costello and the Attractions, and then just Elvis Costello(yes i am that anal)
anyway the normal Elvis Costello is still in its right place
I am left to assume i clicked or did something stupid, but i checked the get info
from within itunes and noticed nothing crazy...tried pulling the songs/deleating then reimporting(not reencoding just importing)
still cracked out-everything seems fine(the songs play), just doeesnt make sense to me
I have shutdown and restarted itunes, just dont feel like restarting the computer
if anyone has a clue fill me in...

im off to google, but not really sure if i will be able to search the problem with great results

itunes not alphabetizing? thats what i will try

Were they at any time named as Costello, Elvis?

My guess is yes, but I'm still confused as to how they won't fall in line now. Just figured if you renamed them, maybe something's not taking the change, even though the name is visibly changed.

    Dude, I don't know. :awkward:

thats an awesome theory and makes sense, as occasionally i will download higher bitrates of something i already have
sucks though as i downloaded these a while ago, dont have the originals to test, so it is possible this has been going on for a long time and i just noticed...
(I dont like the last name first thing, so it is possible i batch changed it one drunken night)

the only reason i noticed the problem was after deleting the lower bitrate duplicates, i tunes kept showing me duplicates i couldnt find,
(while in show duplicates mode it just showed single songs~this made me a crazy person) after perusing the library i noticed what was going on
i had 1 copy of elvis costello and the attractions and another copy elvis costello "Armed Foces"
on a side not it is alphabetized correctly on the external HD that holds my music

alright i figured it out, has something to do with the sort order
now i just dont know how to fix unless i go song by song...
(I am sure there is a way(i hope))

Verum you were right...when i took the get info on an individual song
(I was using a group get info) lo and behold...sorting order "costello, elvis")

alright dougsscripts.com came to the rescue...

    ~this thread is clean~

It was the sorting order of the songs, you can see it in the individual get info of a song, just not a whole grouping
I used this to help sort the issue
    Some dougsscripts thing

If someone knows how to batch process the sorting info from within itunes itself I am all ears, because it
seems there should be a way i just couldn't figure it out.
