    they also went down almost immediately after going live. they couldn't handle the traffic.

    it's a solid concept.

    a little voice says that they hope Google will absorb them, though. Anna (i think that's her name) is a former Google employee.

    good point. i didn't know that.

    the most interesting claim Cuil (how COOL is that name?!) is making is they can index 25 billion pages in a weekend. that's really, really fast and quite an accomplishment, if true.

    Exactly what I thought. I searched one of my sites and the site image thumbnail that was displayed isn't even from our site, just some random shit.

    Has promise tho.

    It's a husband and wife team, both from google, who both had a hand in the constructing google's main technologies. It will either make for easier absorption or they are really going to try to take it to their former employer.

    I wouldn't call it an epic fail. Google's been around for ten years, hard to be better right out of the gate but it does show promise.

    they spidered more than 121.000.000.000 pages but somehow i'm missing many (smaller) sites completely
