    Hey folks!

I want a tattoo. I have drawn a small flower for it.

    Question:

You New York folks w/tats...where is a safe (SAFE) place to go where they will use my drawing?

    Thanks!

Oooo. That will NOT...I repeat...NOT be me at the end of my Tattooing adventure.

Although I was seeing an Austin musician once...Jesse Taylor who (not his face) was covered in Lovely colorful birds and such. It was beautiful.

I love the art form. One has to reflect on the permanence though, before one jumps in...

i'm thinking CEO of a multi-national company is not in that guy's future.

he should have a couple of arrows pointing to his mouth from the word FUN on his chin. also, nice one on the forehead...Property of Jolene...i'm wondering if that's his cellies name. :D

I've wanted a Buddha tatoo on the small of my back for about 2 years.
My friend was supposed to be designing it, but she's decided she's a lazy artist and hasn't finished it. Which sucks. Might have a lookie online for a good one.
Want it to be quite tribally.

seated or reclining buddha? ;) that's a great tribe to be in. Nam yo ringe ko, y'all.

Veedot, i know you know the rules of tat.

    • if it's over a bony prominence, it's gonna hurt like the devil to get inked.

    • colours fade with sun exposure (so does black, but not as fast). do not believe an artist that tells you otherwise.

    * tats need to go on parts that don't change shape very much. only one wrinkled rose per woman, is my rule (bad joke about foldy places). :)

    * if you're gonna get drunk for the tat, do it AFTER.

    enjoy. :D

At this point ...this tat is FOR ME to look at and enjoy, mostly...so I'm thinking underarm or outside arm...up by the elbow!... both sufficiently fleshy. I think the shape of my arms are finished changing.

And good to know about fading. I want it to be gorgeous reds, blues, gold & green.

Not gonna get drunk. I want to watch and be cognizant!!

Thanks again, Flash! (and you for the advice, ms. mick)

    I'll take a snap when I'm done!

ahhhh ok... well, although I love looking at the art form on others..I still am a bit of a coward. (remember when Brando said *The Horror...* in Apocolypse Now?) welll *the permanence...

well... i thought that myself and after, what, 12 years? i finally came to a conclusion a lot of people got before me - tattoos are for SHOW mostly :)
and after years of cowardly hiding behind long sleeves and shit, i said "fuck it - make it longer, make it stick out of the collar, make it show from under the end of the sleeve"
but that's just me... and maybe my wife :D

Loads of thought went into that one I'm sure, hint hint if you "want" a tat you really should not get one, they are not puppies that you can toss in the trash when you tire of them. After much perusing of tat picture forums I came to the conclusion that the law should require a minimum age of 30 and or an IQ test before one gets done.:happy::happy:

Biff - Yes, a tribally looking Buddha. Like all sort of artistic and stuff . . . I can see it really clearly in my head, but unfortunately I'm crap at art. Like swirly shapes for the body and things . . .

Nicko - Reminds of a joke, can;t remember who did it. - I want to get a tattoo of my face, on my face but slightly to the left. Then stand outside 3D cinema's and scare people coming out. -

To anyone who was wondering... I recommended her to talk to Alex McWatt at Three Kings Tattoo in Brooklyn.

It's clean, nice and open to trying different styles. He's just pleasant to have working on you while you get a tattoo.

i know what you mean, idio, and good for you on waiting for the right image. i think the "tribally" looking stuff is very strong. i have a tattoo, and it took a long time for the shape i had going in my head to come clear enough to sketch and describe. from first conception to realization, it was about 4 years.

:D i visualize YOUR buddha with an ampersand belly heh... maybe i'm not your tattoo designer either.
  6.
I tried to sketch it once, but it was nowhere near what I imagined.

I definately think there should be a minimum amount of time between the decision of wanting a tatoo, and the actual purchase and creation of one. I'm not sure about age though. I think by the time I finally have a design I'm totaly happy with, I'll have wanted the tatoo for several years plus, so the likihood of me rejecting it once I'm older are slimmer.

I chose a Buddha, because although not religious, it's an ideaology I've been brought up with thanks to my father. And if I had the discipline, it's definately a religion I would look into. Even still, with my aetheism, it appeals to me. I like the fact Buddha is an Idol, not a god. Someone to look up to, and not worship. I'll admit I don't know the detailed ins and outs of Buddhaism, but know enough that I like it, and wouldn't object to a sign of peace and knowledge on myself. I also want someone close to me to design it, rather than a stranger, it then has that added sentiment.

    ^_^

heh. The reason I am going forward with getting one is that at my age there is NO fear it will *ruin my corporate career* . A clue is : I was in Corporate Graphics for a LOT of years and never once wore anything but jeans and the equivalent to work! ;-)

I suspect you may be younger than myself and perhaps headed for career choices wherein a stigma is still attached...hence the advice from sunk...

  7.
mick, that's the second post from you've I've then hd to check my dictionary for a definition.

Probably answering Ve.'s question, Yes I am younger. But that's why I'm getting it on the small of my back. I'm hoping there will be minimal changes to my body shape and size there, and also it will mostly be covered by clothes, except when I want to show it off. ^_^ I was thinking about my belly, but then thought, if I get pregnant (much MUCH later) then it would stretch and be a proper Buddha belly. Which would look silly.

Looking forward to lot's of posing photo's of you and your new tat Ve. once you get it done!!
