    The Circle Project

A brief history on wall artwork.

The idea of the wall is to create a continuous piece of work, with each individual artist using their own unique style to blend the previous piece into their own work.

An example can be seen here:
    http://www.invadespace.com/random/wall/wall.html

Each artist is only given a small segment of the previous piece from which to work, meaning that although they have to think hard on how they make their piece continue the whole wall, ideas that have gone previously do not overly influence their design. A successful wall will have many very individual works, but still flow together as 1 continuos wall.

    The Circle Wall

This wall will be built in a giant circle, like the outside of a world, however there will be one crucial difference in the construction of this collaboration.

Not only will you be blending the previous work into your own, making it a part of your own work, you will also be required to carry a line through your segment.

What you do with this line, how you represent it in your design and the idea you come up with to carry your line through is totally up to you. You can make the line thicker, thinner, explode it into a million other lines, turn the line into type, or a flock of birds. The only requirement is that the line clearly exits the other side of your segment (in whatever style you care) for the next person to take through their own segment.

The line doesn't have to go straight through the segment from point a to point b. Take it on a journey, use the space you have be creative.

You are not limited to any style or colour, however you should pay considerable attention to the way your work blends from the previous, making the circle flow from piece to piece. It's best not to work to hard on your design until you see what you have to work with, but it would be a good idea to think about your segment and prepare in advance.

Remember this is all about the idea first, and using your creativity to carry it off. if you think you are up to the task, sign below to be considered for this project. I hope to include everybody that signs depending on the numbers.

I will build the template and assign one person to start us off once we have the figure for participants.

Please see the attached diagram for a visual representation of how this wall is constructed.

This url doesn't get me anywhere..Can you please post it again? I'd like to see the example. To see if an artist who draws in pen and ink and THEN scans in and makes it digital can play...

    count me in.

I'll be busy with a new baby soon, and other things prob until mid-late august if not September.
but in light of other collaborations that should still fall fairly early in the timeline :P
I'm sure once I dive into it I'll be able to complete it quickly though. if I'm a later link/last link that'd be cool with me.

ps: I'm back!!!! (for about a week then ya, moving and baby and stuff....)

there will be a portion of the segment you are handed that you wont be allowed to touch (before the blend area) just so you know what you are doing, I'll update the diagram, or show it on the template.

Just so you can see what you are blending from ofcourse, the area will be the same size as the blend area so you can use 'half of that' in your design. It will all be clearly marked.

Let me know if there is anything you don't understand about this project, I'll be passing participants the template which you then pass back to me as completed work for me to compile, and send out the next template to the next person.

  3.
What does the first person attach their picture to?
Wall pieces have a first and last shot only attached one way...no big deal because
they are end pieces...but this is a cycle, seems to me the last and first
pieces may need to collaborate a bit...if not you would run into the same problem
you had with micks idea(having to wait until both pieces are done then mixing)

Or i am i just being crazy again
    I dont understand

and the last person connects on two...im just sayin

make the circle thicker, so we have slices.
