Yeah, the name's pretty bad. The branding looks so similar, too. How many people will wonder if they already bought this?

Branding is designed to stop people expecting a step change...

Makes sense really! and leaves steve alone, without him we would still be stuck on a PPC chip running OS9.999!!!!

True, but you run the risk of confusing people who aren't huge Mac users.

Here's the page for Server, too - looks neat. Check out the Remote Access section, AFP548 mentioned it could be similar to MobileMe. ;)

Mac OS X Server - Snow Leopard

actually, it's not official as no where does apple say 10.6. For all we know it's 10.5.5 or 10.5.9 then 10.6 can be feature-rich.

Wait and see. I think as time progresses, marketing will be more clear.

    As in "64 bit, mothafucka!"

somehow, stuck in my head is the idea that traditionally, the OS isn't solid until version __.6.1

;) also, traditionally, the OS isn't solid until my computer is almost too out of date to run it. *nod*

Intel Core Duo sounded so cool, too.

There's always the chance that they'll add PowerPC support back in, at the last minute.

i drive 'em until they drop, flak.

heh.. i prolly have more retired macs than blueshead. i'm cruel, though. i put them back to work. (a hobby is combining the working bits of older comps and making solid low-use machines for elders to use for email and chat.)

i think "Snow Leopard" is a terrible name. they're running out of beautiful big cats. 10.7 will probably be the Serval.

    ;) or the Oncila

Naw, I hear ya there. I just resurrected an old Blue and White G3 solely to hold old hard drives (and data that I don't need immediate access to).

It's fun to take all of those spare parts and build something working out of them. :D

I thank Steve for giving me these sweet computers to make my living off of. I prob wouldn't be so dedicated to my job if I had to spend my time on a piece of shit windows box.
