Several reports on the Internet claim that Apple may be preparing to release Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.9 update very soon.
Builds 8P2130 and 8P130, respectively for PowerPC and Intel based Macs have recently been seeded to developers.
These builds contain no known bugs and have fixed some related to Bluetooth, DVD recording and CoreAudio.
Apple has been seeding builds of Mac OS X 10.4.9 in a very high rate since January. The update is expected to bring a total of over 100 bug fixes to the company's operating system.
Older seeds included fixes on OpenGL, CoreAudio, CoreImage, CoreData, iSync, and the Sync Services engine, USB, File Manager, among several others.
As its version number suggests, Mac OS X 10.4.9 update should be the last major revision to Tiger 10.4.x.
February 27, 2007 - Apple dropped new seeds of Mac OS X 10.4.9 on developers Tuesday night. The fresh builds were released in both client and server versions for PowerPC and Intel processors.
Seeds for both releases are seven builds newer than the last ones Apple delivered to developers earlier in February. advertisement
As with the previous two seeds, the new builds, 8P132 (PowerPC) and 8P2132 (Universal), are listed as having no known issues in accompanying notes. Apple is soliciting feedback from developers on roughly two dozen areas of the operating system for the client update, however, and slightly fewer than that for the server update.
Mac OS X 10.4.9 is widely believed to be the last update to Tiger ahead of the release of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. While the update consists primarily of bug fixes and minor improvements, it will not be insubtantial in size: the client updates are 127MB (PowerPC) and 248.2MB (Universal), while the server updates are 163.4MB/72.4MB (PowerPC Combo/Delta) and 315.4MB/167.2MB (Universal Combo/Delta). The Delta updates are for customers running Mac OS X 10.4.8, while the Combo update can be applied to any version of Mac OS X 10.4.
