    PC question...

i am using a KVM at the moment to switch between my desktop and the server (which is doing my head in - swiching at awkward moments!), is there a way in XP that on my workstation i can access the server with some kind of virtual desktop instead of the KVM? or do i need some third party software?

    help!

I use Timbuktu to control headless machines/servers.

It's not very pretty but it does a good job, has a useful menu bar shortcut which makes it easy to launch (I'm using this for both Mac to PC and PC to Mac control) and I've had no issues with it (over the past four years).

    Realvnc:

And for the mac side to control it:

    ChickenoftheVNC

    Free, bitches!

i currently use TightVNC to view and manage other computers. but i do find a KVM swtich or a second monitor very handy if your next to the computers in question.

? As long as you can get the realvnc software to the NT machine (USB drive, whatever), you can still use it. TCP/IP is TCP/IP whether or not it's on a WAN (the internet) or a LAN.
