Loja Volume B - São Paulo
roughly poured concrete, reminds me of many buildings from around the med. build it quick, and who cares about anything else :) i really quite like this, i think.

i keep staring at all that concrete on the interior walls and thinking about dank basements.

i like the outside. the inside looks cold, though the yellow staining effect from the lighting is kind of warming.

    those steps are just lovely.

:) it reminds me of my bff's home, where all we had were small cans of leftover paint, and it was either paint every tiny thing a diff colour or dump it all together to make a shit-muckle-dun shade. she has vibrant baseboards and trim.

    ............

Is this better? How about this?

when i see shit like those blinds... i immediately wonder who is going to clean the tracks so they will keep working.

maybe they've invented tiny little robot track sweepers.

    ............

i do like the smoooooth look.

this house is smooooth, too. my german is crappy, but i think it's sealed completely in plastic. the house is in Łódź, Poland.

the free-standing wall has to do with building codes that require alignment with the property line.

then you got lucky, falling for a german (in oh so many ways). :)

i've an ear for languages, but i think it's more to do with exposure than academic prowess. i learned sign language and english at the same time. there's good evidence that being multilingual before age 6 lets your brain juggle other languages more easily as when you're older. for me, that balances out my inability to watch moving pictures for more than a few minutes at a time (also a childhood brain-set).

We understand that uncovered ramps would have a machine-looking impact that would be too obvious. As it is covered, it camouflages this aspect and brings more attention to the architectural element, which will focus the view and interest of the user.

Exclusive Q&A: The Architects Rebuilding Domino Sugar in Williamsburg
The Domino Sugar Refinery on the East River waterfront in Williamsburg
    industrial awesomeness

    The Domino Sugar Refinery
on the East River waterfront in Williamsburg is a hulking testament to the neighborhood’s industrial past: built in 1884 and shuttered in 2003, the factory site (chock full of “abandoned offices, lunchrooms, science labs, locker rooms and loading bays; floor after floor of vats, boilers and furnaces”) was finally landmarked in 2007. Now, a $1.2 billion redevelopment project has been approved for an eight-month public review phase, aiming to rework the three main buildings as a mixed-use site with a riverside esplanade.

the electric ramp is interestingly ugly. i hope it has an egress at least every 50 meters.

the sugar refinery is going to be a boondoggle. cool, though. ;)

N Building is a commercial structure located near Tachikawa station amidst a shopping district. Being a commercial building signs or billboards are typically attached to its facade which we feel undermines the structures' identity. As a solution we thought to use a QR Code as the facade itself. By reading the QR Code with your mobile device you will be taken to a site which includes up to date shop information. In this manner we envision a cityscape unhindered by ubiquitous signage and also an improvement to the quality and accuracy of the information itself.

December 15th, 2009 we held an opening which included the limited release of an iPhone application made specifically for N Building. If a QR Code is static, what could we do with a dynamic device like the iPhone? Our proposed vision of the future is one where the facade of the building disappears, showing those inside who want to be seen. As you press on the characters their comments made on online appear in speech bubbles. You can also browse shop information, make reservations and download coupons. Rather than broadly tagging, we display information specific to the building in a manner in which the virtual (iPhone) serves to enhance the physical (N Building). Our goal is to provide an incentive to visit the space and a virtual connection to space without necessarily being present.

    Haus M, Gruenwald, Germany
    Haus M, Gruenwald, Germany

The house is a further development of 'Haus 9x9'. The distinctive feature of the property lies in its north-facing slope, which has to be negotiated over two storeys to reach the almost flat garden level. This gives rise to the theme of a 'house winding up the slope', which creates an interference of heavy and light between the cquarry façade and the minimalistic windows.
