Just want to know if anyones doing this?
I'm planing on moving to Ontario late spring and living in Sarnia is an option as a place to live since my fiance is going to be going to school there. Since its right on the border I was wondering what might be needed in order to peddle my designy ability across the border. My initial thoughts are to just approach businesses and make them aware that I exist, maybe show a small portfolio if there is interest, and put up a website. I think I'd also like to approach other design businesses and tell them I'm around in case they have any overflow work or large projects I could help out on.

Anyone have an experience here, or know of any resources I can look into?
I guess any advice for starting freelance in a brand new place with no contacts... WOOOWEEEE!!!!

the biggest problem is that the USA wants you to pay taxes on the income you make in the US, and so does Canada.

that wasn't even an issue a couple of years ago; the difference between the value of the USD and CN$ was enough that working in the US remained lucrative even then. that's no longer the case.

that, and more and more freelance designers are waiting tables, as the US economy (and ours right in tandem) tanks.

    start making contacts now, wormy.
