advice tattoos, anyone?

    im looking into getting my first tattoo on my left forearm. Im trying to come up with some ideas for a tattoo to draw up, but have no good sites/literature to reference from. Problem is, I'm not really into traditional tattoo work. skulls, tribal(although I like kinda island tribal), portraits, gothic type... it's not my thing. hell I don't even like multi-colored tattoos.

    one idea is to get a group of five different sized, solid bands wrapping around the forearm (more towards the elbow) with one of the thicker bands having knock-out type. I thought of this while doing some research on the "sons of liberty."

    I figure, if I make it simple and i liked getting it, i'll wind up adding to it somehow.

    another is to come up with something similar to one of the japanese mon (symbols) with three commas rotating to the left. symbolizing the three most important aspects of my life being continuos and balanced. but give it more a bit of style.

    any referances, ideas, tattoos of your own, stories, please share... :smile:

    i like the two ideas you presented for your tat, seems you've thought it through. I intend to get one someday. just have to figure out what it would be.........

    My first tattoo...

    It has a very personal significance, but, it's also basic and plain... just the way I like it.

    I've learned over the years of having it, I can gauge when people are comfortable with me... when they ask what they mean. Or, if there an asshole, because they'll ask in the for 5 minutes of meeting me... "What the fuck are those for? You in a gang and cover shit up... ?" Retards.

    You should go with what YOU want... you'll be wearing it for life, not us.

    i really like the tattoos that constantine has in the film

    The symbol is from a group of seventeenth century alchemy designs created by Eugenius Philalethe and means "the sulfur of perfection." It appears that the same design is tattooed on both arms so that when Constantine brings his arms together, the bilateral symmetry forms the whole design again. Given that the manifestation of demons brings a sulfurous aftersmell, it must be something to the theory that "like draws like" that allows Constantine to force Gabriel to appear with the incantation.

    I think Flash's tats are cool...and then cognitive overdrive stepped in and i thought "equal sign" or "pause button" or it's the new and old testatment done in very small script :happy:

    I was so gonna have a bar code on my neck way back in 1989ish but then some "idiot" I told mentioned George Orwell and so it never happened, I'm so glad.

    Otherwise best I've seen is a "splatter" on the end of some babes heels going under her foot, like she just squashed something, very kewl, and she had a great body.

    I have a devil tattoo on my right arm, it looks kind of like me,i asked for that i plan on getting a jesus on the right arm looking the other way, basically some yin yang bullshit, and the right hand doesnt know what the left hand is doibng kind of stuff...i'll post picture when not so lazy...i only have video cameras so picture posting is pain in ass, when i have to do myself...having seen Mr Cool Ice...my tattoo will pale in comparison

    Yes, it's morbid. But, it's also how I remember and honor to dear family members every day.

    Yea... no gangs. And it's hard to throw in some humor when I answer the question... but, I've also been asked about the equal sign, the number 11, 1 and 1, world trade towers, cover ups, and even rulers.
