    People-powered maps
Conventional maps show the shape of a country according to its land mass. But what if you drew a map according to where people lived?

Ever wonder what a wall-sized visualization of live downloads of the 20,000 most popular iPhone apps from the App Store would look like in near real-time? It would look like this (5min delay)

Powered by 20 Mac Pro towers running Snow Leopard

GoodMorning! is a Twitter visualization tool that shows about 11,000 ‘good morning’ tweets over a 24 hour period, rendering a simple sample of Twitter activity around the globe. The tweets are colour-coded: green blocks are early tweets, orange ones are around 9am, and red tweets are later in the morning. Black blocks are ‘out of time’ tweets which said good morning (or a non-english equivalent) at a strange time in the day. Click on the image above to see North America in detail (click on the ‘all sizes’ button to see the high-res version, which is 6400×3600), or watch the video below to see the ‘good morning’ wave travel around the globe:

pens showing most economical use of ink by typefaces
    Measuring Type

A selection of the most commonly used typefaces were compared for how economical they are with the amount of ink which they use at the same point size. Large scale renditions of the typefaces were drawn out with ballpoint pens, allowing the remaining ink levels to display the ink efficiency of each typeface.

some or many of the infographics on here may already be from this site, but at any rate you should check out the website for good magazine (no relation) good.is. I haven't linked anything in a long while, so I don't remember basic html anymore, but type that into the special spot in your browser, and it oughta find its way.
