My words when i saw it "it's crap" and a few hours later it's still crap.

If they had got it free as part of a competition I could have understood, they paid £500,000 for it. The design company must have spent 30 seconds on this?

and i thought using the inukshuk (Vancouver 2010 Olympics) was trite. inukshuks are made of rock; it's cheesy to paint them. *sigh*

London, How do I Hate Thee? Let me Count the Ways, 1, 2… 2012

Like Halley’s comet or the launch of new iPhone ads, it is a momentous occasion when you wake up to a buzzing design (and online) community eager to talk about a logo. The last sighting of something like this was four years ago, with UPS. How times have changed since then; now dozens of blogs are on it and hundreds of non-designers are intrigued. I even woke up to fifteen e-mails with the same subject line: Olympic logo of London 2012.

along the same lines as middigit, it strikes me as a cross between a reversed Rodins "The Thinker" with someone playing at "I'm a teapot." Must have my cognitive senses on full as I also see a chap in the woods pinching a loaf and asking for some paper
Mind you it also looks a bit like Meska from a distance, old boy bent over with his walking cane waving "Cooey!"

    Class? of 1930?
it looks like something with that futuristic style from the '30... me don't like.
the problem with the olympics logos is that they want it to be a "mark", and "transpire" modernism, and usually it doens't and it sucks.

When I was reading this in the Metro Newspaper this morning there was a funny comment: 'Whats Lisa Simpson doing to that poor man' I nearly burst out laughing!

not a chance...doing so would show a sign of weakness in an already disrespected (nonrespected...?) government... they're gonna keep it, and they're gonna rub it in our face every chance they get...
